David is lead for technical and business transformation across the global operations of University of Sunderland. He leads a multidisciplinary technical directorate and has been a champion, both regionally and across sector nationally, for the establishment and development of Smart Cities and the role which higher education institutions can play.

His interest lies in the use of technology to promote research along with learning and teaching to support real life applications, making a positive and meaningful difference to the lives of people who live, work, study and spend their recreation time in Sunderland.

David is a Fellow of the British Computer Society and holds a Master’s Degree from University of Sunderland in IT Management, specialising in Cyber Security. His focus is thoughtfully applying the latest technology to make a difference to the lived experience of our citizens and to those visiting our region.
